I am Nutan Gujarati, Founder & CEO of Pushkara, and this is the journey that shaped our purpose and our company.
Pushkara’s story begins in Motivavdi, a village in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, where my family has been connected to agriculture for generations.
My great-grandfather worked on our dry, drought-prone farmland with remarkable resilience. Despite harsh environmental conditions, our family remained consistently healthy — a testament to the power of natural living, physical activity, and a life aligned with nature.
Growing up, I attended a village primary school and spent my afternoons helping on the farm. These early experiences instilled in me a lifelong respect for the land, hard work, and the simplicity of rural living.
With time, our family moved to Surat, a rapidly developing urban center. The transition brought new opportunities but also new challenges.
Within a few years, lifestyle-related health issues became common in the family — a stark contrast to our life in the village.
This shift made me realize the profound impact of urban living, reduced exposure to nature, digital dependence, fast food, and high-stress environments.
It reinforced my belief that nature is not just a luxury — it is essential for human well-being.
To stay connected to agriculture, I pursued a Master’s in Horticulture.
As urbanization accelerated and people grew disconnected from nature, I founded a plant nurturing business, helping individuals access healthy plants and plant-care solutions.
Over time, I observed that people wanted greenery in their spaces but lacked the time, knowledge, or resources to care for plants.
This insight led to the launch of our online plant and gardening ecosystem, making plants, tools, and essentials easily accessible to every household.
The year 2020 marked a pivotal moment.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced people indoors and sparked a renewed appreciation for plants as sources of comfort, healing, and positivity.
Pushkara’s purpose became clear: to inspire a lifestyle where plants are essential to personal well-being, inner growth, and a balanced home environment.
Our focus expanded beyond beautification — we committed to enabling meaningful, enduring relationships between people and nature.
Every plant sold by Pushkara is grown, nurtured, and cared for on our farm in Surat.
Our cultivation processes prioritize plant health, scientific horticulture, sustainability, and quality control.
We ensure that each plant is prepared for a smooth transition from our farm to your home.
Along with plants, we offer high-quality gardening tools, accessories, and plant care essentials designed to empower customers to confidently create and maintain green spaces.
We envision a future where every household in India owns at least one thriving plant — a future where interacting with nature is as natural as checking your phone.
Our mission is to transform home gardens into personal sanctuaries and bring nature back into everyday life.
While we may occupy a small space in your home, we aim to make a meaningful place in your life.
Pushkara is driven by values.
As a purpose-led organization, we are committed to ethical business practices, environmental responsibility, employee well-being, and community upliftment.
We believe that true success lies in contributing positively to society.
Our approach integrates science, technology, and horticultural expertise, enabling us to scale efficiently without compromising on quality.
With structured processes, clear vision, and a commitment to innovation, Pushkara stands at the intersection of tradition and technology — proving that horticulture is both a science and an art.
